Customized FAR and CAS Training Courses

We offer FAR training, CAS training, working with DCAA as well as unique areas such as negotiations, estimating, procurement, etc.  Rather than presenting a “canned” course, we specialize in providing customized on-site training for as many people as you wish.  We will conduct interviews with company representatives to understand your business and listen to the concerns of your employees.  Next, we will prepare material such as FAR and CAS training that is oriented to your unique business needs.  Our training courses are either offered separately or as part of our consulting engagements where our clients need to demonstrate they are providing essential training to their employees.

Our training staff is highly experienced who have presented many training sessions.  They are all senior level people, usually at the partner level, and know how to make complex material both interesting and even entertaining.

FAR Training

FAR training typically covers the FAR cost principles in varied levels of detail, covering 1-3 days.  Additional areas of FAR training may include preparing cost proposals, compliance with the Truth in Negotiations Act, requirements covering subcontracting such as audits of subcontract proposals, price analysis, opportunities and requirements for using commercial item pricing, selecting contract and subcontract types, overview of contract clauses and flow-down clauses and many other topics in light of your needs.  Once we identify your needs we then prepare and present FAR customized material considering the level of knowledge and experience of attendees and practical needs of the company.  We usually become familiar with specific FAR issues affecting our attendees and address them during the training sessions.

CAS Training

CAS training can also be offered in varied levels of detail covering 1-3 days.  CAS training will cover all cost accounting standards applicable to your organization, administrative requirements and brief history.  We will also cover the basic requirements of the CAS Disclosure Statement in our CAS training sessions.

We can also offer a combination of FAR training and CAS training which will provide less in depth coverage of each but provide a good basic understanding.  The FAR training and CAS training sessions (or combination) typically take 2-3 days where we reserve enough time on the last day to respond to additional questions and specific issues of concern.

In addition to our FAR training and CAS training sessions, popular topics we have covered include:

  • Negotiation Basics
  • Managing DCAA Audits
  • Proper Timekeeping and Labor Charging
  •  Managing DCAA Floorchecks
  • “Hot” Topics of the Day
  • Proper Estimating Practices
  • Proper Purchasing Practices

There are organizations that offer seminars where attendees must usually travel, incurring travel related costs not to mention inconvenience.  Our clients find our on-site, customized training not only responds to organizations’ unique needs but is economical when more than three employees would benefit from the course.
